LRI Requests Applications for 2006 Grants
The Lupus Research Institute (LRI), the leading sponsor of innovative, novel research into lupus, is
accepting applications for a new round of research grants. Applications are due June 1, 2006. Annual funding
of up to $100,000 per year, for a term of up to three years, will be awarded to approved projects. You may access
the Request for Proposal and Application via the following links:
Research applications are judged principally on novelty of approach, scientific quality, strength of the hypothesis, relevance to lupus, and likelihood of success. Creativity is rewarded.
In addition, the emphasis in all LRI Request for Applications focuses on the rationale for the hypothesis to be tested rather than the amount (or quality) of preliminary data presented.
Also encouraged are projects that focus on aspects of the disease that have been less extensively studied and applications from investigators who may not have previously worked in lupus (e.g., cardiology, nephrology, dermatology, neurology).
Applicants should hold advanced degrees and be affiliated with institutions of higher learning in the United States. Both established and new investigators may apply.
