The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services proposed removing immunosuppressant drugs from the list of protective drug classes in 2015. Currently, all immunosuppressant drugs are required to be covered by Medicare Part D. This proposed change would mean that in 2015 Medicare beneficiaries would only have access to immunosuppressant drugs that their Medicare prescription drug plan decides to include on their formulary. The LRI and many of its National Coalition members signed on to a strong letter requesting reconsideration of this proposal.
