LRI National Coalition Member to Receive Prestigious Service Award

Kathleen A. Arntsen, President and CEO of the Lupus Foundation of Mid and Northern New York, Inc. will be recognized by the Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals' (ARHP) with the Addie Thomas Service Award for her longstanding history of volunteer service and leadership contributions to the field of Rheumatology on the local, regional, and national levels. She will receive the prestigious award at the Opening Session of the American College of Rheumatology/ARHP Annual Meeting in Washington, DC on November 10, 2012.
Kathleen was nominated for the award by Paul Gileno, President of the U.S. Pain Foundation and lupus clinician and researcher Dr. Marc Chevrier, as well as Margaret Dowd, President and CEO of the Lupus Research Institute.
Margaret noted, "I have proudly worked with Kathleen Arntsen from the halls of Congress to local support meetings and have personally witnessed her astonishing grasp and understanding of the complex issues that face such a multi-faceted disease as lupus, and her ability to advocate and communicate issues to a wide range of publics with clarity and grace. The lupus and rheumatology community are deeply grateful for Kathleen Arntsen—her effective leadership, her advocacy voice, and her great courage. We congratulate Kathleen on her well-deserved recognition as a strong and effective voice for people with lupus."
