Maria Fiorini Ramirez Joins Lupus Research Institute Board of Directors
Head of independent global economic and financial consulting firm backs promise and potential of innovative medical research

An economist with a decades-long career in the financial sector, Maria Fiorini Ramirez, president and CEO of a company of her own name (MFR), has joined the Lupus Research Institute’s board of directors.
“With her finger on the pulse of global economic trends and changes in markets that influence investment decisions, Mrs. Ramirez will aid the lupus cause tremendously as we expand to invest in the best bold new ideas in lupus nationwide,” said LRI President Margaret Dowd.
A strong and independent analyst, Mrs. Ramirez is a frequent speaker on economic affairs at U.S. and international forums, and a regular guest on media outlets such as CNBC, CNN, ABC, Fox News, Bloomberg Financial News, PBS, CBS and TV Tokyo.
Mrs. Ramirez founded Maria Fiorini Ramirez, Inc., in 1990 to generate independent global economic consulting and market analysis to corporations and financial institutions worldwide. The former Chief Money Market Economist and Managing Director at Drexel Burnham Lambert is prized for her insights on economic conditions, political trends, central bank policy, and other elements that affect global financial markets.
Mrs. Ramirez began her career in 1967 at Meinhard Commercial, a subsidiary of CIT. In 1974 she joined Merrill Lynch where during her 10 year tenure; she was appointed First Vice President and Senior Money Market Economist.
With broad interests in health as well as business, Mrs. Ramirez sits on the boards of the Brooklyn Hospital Center, the Brooklyn Foundation and Pace University, and is a founding member of 100 Women in Hedge Funds. She is a member of the New York Hedge Fund Roundtable and the Economic Club of NY.
