Systemic autoimmune diseases such as lupus are exceedingly complex to study, diagnose, and treat. For true advances to be realized, scientists in immunology, rheumatology, kidney disease (nephrology), neurology, and other specialties need to communicate with each other to share ideas and promote collaboration.
Lupus Research Institute (LRI) recognizes the communication challenges and needs. It encourages these players to step out of their labs and offices to share data, openly exchange ideas, and interact at an annual two-day gathering: The Forum for Discovery Scientific Conference.
Now in its 5th year, Forum for Discovery has quickly become the country’s foremost scientific conference on lupus—a scientific showcase of new ideas.
Podium and panel presentations offer nationally renowned scientists a platform for displaying recent developments and findings. Clinicians, state lupus groups, and representatives from the NIH, the FDA, and industry mingle with scientists and among one another.
Key thought leaders come together to share thoughts, frustrations, and inspiration. Basic and clinical investigators discuss research ideas, devise collaborative projects, and inspire new lupus investigators. Attendance is actually a prerequisite of funding for LRI New Investigator Fellows.
Conference attendance is by invitation only.
